Fashion reflects mood ..when I am moody, I experiment ..with different styles , looks, and colors. Fashion has been changing since the first time the factor of fashion became a practice.Where initially, it was generally related to clothing , it now includes everything from clothing ,accessories ,footwear ,hairstyles ,jewellery and even lingerie. 1980s was phase where major changes were seen .The transformation from close fitted clothes to loose shirts and tight fitting trousers. Influenced by movies and t.v. shows, styles like ripped sweatshirts, over sized shoulder pads ,track suits (apart from exercising time) and the popular punk fashion which included ripped skinny jeans, worn band tee-shirts, and jean or leather jackets.

Fashion can be functional (e.g. the business suits and hats worn by many europeans to protect against the cold weather) or more about giving voice to a feeling (e.g. the fashion propagated by fans of rock music or hippy culture). Its not mere presentation of clothes and forms but many a times it has been inspired by social developments. It tells a lot about the society, its culture, its evolution. The changes in the social environment is readily reflected in the contemporary fashion. Moreover fashion is dictated by Musicians and other cultural icons and not to forget the Movies. Movies have been great contributors to the trends during the years followings a movie release. Like the "FRIENDS" cap made famous by Maine pyar kiya or the Friendship band brought in vogue by 'Kuch Kuch Hota hai'. There are many examples of the influence of the entertainment industry on the fashion industry,

Fashion has always been peculiar in certain years or decades. Earlier ladies wore long dresses as a part of tradition..they were termed as "party gowns " which is still considered to be the preferred Dress Code for parties. However as the women started to juggle between domestic and business scenarios, these long dresses gave way to more functional and comfortable dressing that we see today on many corporate women. These changes coupled with changes in manufacturing technology in textile industry, and emergence of fashion designing has completely changed the way we dress up and accessorize ourselves today

Hence it is always interesting to see the changes in the fashion. The kind of fashion we see today has its origin in 80s. Its the decade of generation X. Many of the trends that we see has its origin in the decade of 80s.
80s was a decade marked by great innovation, rising social well being in developed countries and many breakthroughs in the areas like science and technology. This development didn't stay confined to the developed nations. The manufacturing was shifted to developing nations such as India, Taiwan, korea where as the major consumer of these goods were in USA, Europe. This interaction resulted in global spread of wealth and at the same time larger diffusion of cultures and fashion. The worlds was on the verge of becoming a global village.

During this decade, music played an important role in captuing the population at large. Pop artists such as Micheal Jackson, Maddonna, Queen, Prince influenced the masses.

The beginning of the decade was marked by the new romantic movement and later by fashion inspired by Heavy metal bands, including teased hair, ripped jeans and neon clothing. Some clothing and mens hairstyles had influences from the 1950s, especially in the first part of the decade. The mid-80s continued the craze for designer jeans and saw leather become popular dolly shoes. Frequently, these mini skirts were worn with leggings.
Fashion is all about how you wish to present yourself. When you get bored of your old self, you definitely step forward and change the look, not only to catch the eye but also to feel good about yourself. Just go ahead with anything you feel makes you feel confident about your body, who knows you find the girl-next-door following up on your trend.
